Parent Company Of Balducci’s, Kings Food Markets Files For Bankruptcy
KB US Holdings, the parent company of Kings Food Markets and Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market, which has locations throughout the region, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The company announced this week that “it has accepted a stalking horse bid from TLI Bedrock to purchase the company for $75 million.” To facilitate the sale, KB and its subsidiaries have commenced voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. New Long Island Stores Big Part Of German Discount Grocer Lidl's US Expansion
German grocer Lidl plans to open 50 new locations in the U.S. by 2021, and has already launched two new Long Island stores, with more to come. Those stores, in East Meadow and Patchogue, opened on consecutive Wednesdays: July 29 on Aug. 5, respectively. Massachusetts has received hundreds of employee complaints alleging their workplaces are not meeting state safety and compensation standards during COVID-19. A 47-year-old man was caught red-handed by cops attempting to steal construction equipment from a work site near an area shopping center, police said.
